What is the Holodeck?
It is the generic name used in starships for the "smart" virtual reality system as evolved by the 2360s - a technology that combines holography, transporter, and replicator systems.
Just recently, a new gen of inexpensive video cameras that sense 3D information is coming. The camera can sense human hand motion and body motion into the movements of a virtual character. This works by placing the camera near the computer screen and pointing it at the human navigator. It is possible to move forward and backward, and even fly around in cyberspace with the correct hand gestures.
